The Queen's appointment

The Queen has approved the appointment of The Right Honourable Sir (Roger) John Laugharne Thomas as president of the Queen’s Bench Division with effect from 3 October 2011.

Sir Thomas was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1969, made a Bencher in 1992 and took Silk in 1984. He has been deputy head of criminal justice and vice-president of the Queen’s Bench Division since 2008 and was president of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary from 2008 to 2010.
