There will be no Keeping of the Roll exercise in 2015, the SRA has confirmed. Traditionally solicitors who do not hold a practising certificate had to apply online each year to keep their name on the Roll. However the SRA Board agreed last year to abolish the annual exercise. The SRA will now conduct the exercise only when necessary to verify data. Solicitors therefore no longer have to pay a £20 fee and complete an application each year.
