The latest Lord Chancellor, Dominic Raab will take his oath this week at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Contrary to tradition, however, Raab and the Lord Chief Justice have agreed the swearing-in will not take place in open court as this is Raab’s second time round.

He was previously sworn in on 23 September 2021, later resigning ahead of the ousting of Boris Johnson as prime minister.

There will therefore be no speeches or formal address, nor a formal procession along Carey Street when he arrives, only the necessary constitutional procedures during a short, private ceremony.
