National Kissing Day: employment lawyers issue warning

As the referendum campaign draws to a close, winners and losers will be able to console themselves with a kiss. 24 June is National Kissing Day. However, employment lawyers Doyle Clayton have warned that even a “mwah mwah” on the cheek at work can be misinterpreted. Darren Clayton, senior partner, says: “There are issues around whether someone is consenting to such contact, no matter how innocuous, and especially issues around whether subordinates are consenting or simply going along with it because they feel they have to. Conversely there is also the potential for people who don’t get such friendly greetings to feel excluded and discriminated against.”
