Firm announces new litigation head
Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has announced the appointment of Nathan Willmott as the new departmental managing partner (DMP) of its litigation and dispute resolution (LDR) team. Nathan will replace Jonathan Sacher, who will lead BLP’s insurance sector group, on 1 June 2015.
Nathan, who joined BLP in 2007, has led the commercial dispute resolution group since 2010. During this time the team has gone from strength to strength, with an excellent reputation for complex disputes and investigations as well as corporate risk and advisory work. Key clients of the group include National Grid, AIG, Scottish Power, Tesco and Morgan Stanley. Nathan, as DMP, will join the BLP board and lead the litigation team of 225 lawyers, including over 40 partners. Nathan will continue to lead BLP’s financial regulatory group following his recent appointment which was effective on 1 May 2015.
BLP managing partner Lisa Mayhew says: “Jonathan’s excellent leadership of a key strategic pillar of our firm has positioned us well for the future. I am grateful for his dedication over the last decade and am pleased we are able to retain his skills leading our insurance sector group. Nathan’s enthusiasm for his work and strong, collaborative leadership skills make him an ideal person to lead the future development of our market-leading team.”
Nathan says: “I’ve been part of the team since 2007 and in that time we’ve achieved so much. With so many areas of our work assuming even more importance at the highest level within corporates and financial institutions, this is a great time to lead such a talented and ambitious international team. Our philosophy will remain to develop a positive culture and strong relationships with clients internationally to help them achieve their objectives and minimise the risks they face. Our recent award winning work, particularly for clients such as National Grid, has been of the highest quality and through our vast range of litigation related experience, we aim to do more of the same for our clients across the globe.”
