International Human Rights Day was celebrated across the globe on 10 December, marking the day in 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed. This year Human Rights Day took on special significance as it was also the 15th anniversary of the UK’s Human Rights Act being in force. The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) marked Human Rights Day with an event featuring high-profile speakers from BIHR, the Council of Europe and academia.
