The UN Human Rights Council has appointed Ben Emmerson QC as UN special rapporteur on counter terrorism and human rights.

Ben is a barrister practicing from Matrix Chambers, specialising in international law, human rights and criminal law.

He has 25 years’ experience litigating before international courts and tribunals including the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice. He has considerable experience in dealing with matters involving national security and counter-terrorism. Ben will continue to practice from Matrix Chambers for the duration of his mandate as special rapporteur.
