Civil liberties organisation launches in Scotland
Civil liberties organisation Justice has launched north of the border, with a high-profile event at the Signet Library in Edinburgh.
Addressing the guests, Lord Hope, deputy president of the UK Supreme Court, said: “The style of Justice is very different to those organisations who openly campaign like Liberty, Amnesty and Human Rights Watch, though they all have an important role. Justice tries to influence the debate, not to control it. Its strength is in its unfailing objectivity.”
Professor Tony Kelly, the new chair of the Justice Scottish Executive Committee, said Justice was now in a prime position to influence discussion on the political future of Scotland.
