Complex cases up by 16%

The number of complex commercial litigation cases in the courts surged by 16% last year as recession-related disputes filtered through, according to City law firm RPC. Some 1,353 cases were launched in the commercial court, compared to 1,167 in 2012. Geraldine Elliott, RPC partner, says: “This kind of big-ticket litigation tends to be quite complex as well as very contentious—it’s not something that can be rushed to court.”
