In this week’s NLJ, Charles Pigott, professional support lawyer, Mills & Reeve, looks into what we can expect.
The Bill will implement Labour’s ‘Plan to make work pay’ paper. This implies a wide range of changes from repealing trade union legislation to introducing protection from unfair dismissal on the first day of a new job.
Pigott notes that, while there has been no specific information so far about timing, the legislation is promised ‘within 100 days’, which sets the calendar for mid-October.
He writes: ‘Given the scale and ambition of its plans, it is likely to need most of that time to complete the necessary behind-the-scenes consultation about its contents.’
