A man who admitted  trying to assist his wife’s suicide after she was taken into care with dementia has been placed under a two-year supervision order by the Old Bailey. Gilber t Brown, 83, of Uxbridge, and his wife Doris, 80, survived the attempted joint suicide. Judge Jeremy Roberts described the attempt as a “mercy killing” and said the case did not require a prison sentence.
