LNB news: Independent Review of Criminal Legal Aid to host focus groups

The Law Society has announced that the Independent Review of Criminal Legal Aid will host several focus groups, from April to May 2021, to collect evidence on different topics in relation to criminal legal aid

Lexis®Library update: The review is open to practitioners across England and Wales working in criminal legal aid, with relevant experience or background on the different topics.

Topics that are expected to be covered include:

• the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on working practices and processes on 20 April 2021

• barriers for women working in criminal legal aid on 21 April 2021

• how law firms work within the current market on 28 April 2021

• challenges for BAME practitioners working in criminal legal aid on 5 May 2021

To join a focus group, email Irina.pehkonen1@justice.gov.uk. All of the focus groups will be held virtually using Microsoft Teams and the discussions are confidential.
