The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has published a sectoral analysis on the cyber security industry within the UK

Lexis®Library update: The report seeks to build upon prior analysis carried out in February 2021 by providing a recent assessment of the size and scale of the UK’s cyber security industry. It finds that there are an estimated 1,838 firms active within the UK providing cyber security products and services, that the estimated total revenue within the sector was £10.1bn in the recent financial year, and identifies 2021 as a record year for cyber security investment within the UK with over £1bn being raised by cyber security firms over the last 12 months across 84 deals.

The report further acknowledges support for regional growth with £4.2bn of cyber services being exported by the UK in 2020, as well as varied schemes and initiatives being made available to encourage new entrants into the sector and to help tackle the skills gap within cyber security.

The full report can be accessed here.
