Legislation news update

Amend the National Health Service (Charges for Drugs and Appliances) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000/2393) to provide an exemption from charges for the supply of drugs or appliances for cancer patients. From 1 April 2009 no charge shall be payable by a person who is undergoing treatment for cancer, the effects of cancer, or the effects of cancer treatment. Revised application forms are being sent direct to doctors and NHS Trusts from 19 January 2009. Application for a certificate may be made from 9 February 2009.
