Patel v Mirza [2016] UKSC 42, [2016] All ER (D) 91 (Jul)
The Supreme Court held that a claimant who satisfied the ordinary requirements of a claim for unjust enrichment should not be debarred from enforcing his claim by reason only of the fact that the money which he sought to recover had been paid for an unlawful purpose. It gave guidance on the illegality doctrine and decided that Tinsley v Milligan [1993] 3 All ER 65 should no longer be followed.
