Mastercard has been refused permission to appeal the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) judgment greenlighting the claim in the mammoth class action launched by former Financial Ombudsman Walter Merricks.
Personal injury organisations APIL and MASS have been given permission by the Court of Appeal to intervene in two test cases to help establish levels of compensation to be awarded for ‘mixed’ whiplash injuries. 
Sentences were increased for 106 offenders under the Unduly Lenient Scheme in 2021, according to government statistics published last week.
