Same-sex couples need to keep their wills up-to-date, Irwin Mitchell solicitor Adam Draper has warned.
Draper says he has seen a rise in the number of cases of people having to claim against the estate of their partner after their death. Same-sex partners have been left with no provision when their partner died without a will in place.
Draper says: “Even when people are married or in civil partnerships it’s important to make sure you have a will in place to make sure your estate is divided as you like, but if you are living together outside of a legalised relationship it is even more important.”
