MPs & peers to instruct external counsel for first time
MPs and peers will be able to instruct external counsel in a Parliamentary inquiry for the first time in history when they meet to quiz witnesses over the LIBOR-rigging scandal. Members of the joint Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards have been given unprecedented powers to instruct counsel to ask questions and to hire them as “special advisers”.
