The Chancellor of the High Court has issued a Practice Note announcing that, following a successful pilot, all trials in the Chancery Division in London (including trials before Master and Registrars) are to be conducted on a fixed-end basis. This means each trial must be completed in the time period allocated to it, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Parties to a trial therefore need to ensure their time estimates are accurate and to keep them under review.
