Professor Gus John to investigate alleged institutional racism
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has appointed Professor Gus John to investigate whether there is any evidence of institutional racism in the way it treats ethnic minority solicitors. The Society of Black Lawyers accused the SRA of institutional racism in January. The SRA denied the charge. Prof John, a consultant, carried out a similar review of the Crown Prosecution Service in 2003.
