The Solicitors Regulation Authory (SRA) has announced the first phase of changes to its Handbook. The SRA says the revised guide is shorter, simpler and removes restrictions on where solicitors can work, Currently, the Handbook has a 30-page code of conduct and more than 400 pages of rules.

The first phase of revision reduces the accounts rules from 41 to seven pages and halves the combined length of the two codes and principles to 14 pages. It also ends constraints on solicitors working in non-Legal Services Authority regulated firms.
