On 1 October, a new small claims track will be introduced at the Patents County Court to deal with low-value and uncomplicated intellectual property claims.

Holders of copyright, trade mark and design rights will be able to pursue claims worth up to £5,000 at an informal hearing and without the need for legal representation. This implements one of the recommendations of Professor Ian Hargreaves.
