The Singapore Convention on mediation came into force on 12 September, in a major development in international commercial dispute resolution

The UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, as it is more formally known, creates a harmonised framework for the enforcement of international mediation settlement agreements. Each signatory state agrees to enforce a settlement agreement in line with its own rules of procedure. There are some limited grounds for refusal. The UK and the EU have not yet ratified the Convention.
