Firm appoints new head of fast track employers & public liability

Simpson Millar has welcomed Matthew Trusch as its new head of fast track employers and public liability (EL/PL) department, part of the firm’s national injury team.

Bringing more than 15 years of experience to the role, with a focus on accidents at work, Matthew has handled hundreds of claims ranging from those worth a few thousand pounds to those worth in excess of £1 million.

Previously the managing partner at Aequitas Legal, Matthew will now lead Simpson Millar’s fast-track EL/PL department, overseeing performance, technical and operational functions.

Commenting on Matthew’s appointment, Helen Melling, who oversees the firm’s injury division, including its clinical negligence, personal injury, catastrophic injury, industrial disease, travel, and military teams, said his ‘wealth of experience and his passion for securing the best outcome’ would prove invaluable to clients.

She added: ‘Matthew has a fantastic amount of experience within the personal injury field, having worked on some of the most complex, high-value cases on behalf of clients who have suffered catastrophic injuries through no fault of their own in recent years.

‘The EL/PL department will benefit hugely from his legal expertise, as well as the operational and management skills that he has developed in his previous role as a managing partner. We are of course delighted to be welcoming him onboard and very much looking forward to working with him moving forward.’

Matthew added: ‘Through the work that we do, we have the privilege of helping clients achieve justice by securing the necessary compensation to put their lives back on track, something I have always been passionate about.

‘Achieving the above alongside the need to handle cases efficiently because of fixed costs in the sector is a challenge we at Simpson Millar are well equipped to deal with.’
