QC failed to pay VAT

Clinical negligence silk Rohan Pershad, formerly of 39 Essex Street, has been convicted of tax fraud after failing to pay VAT for 12 years between 1 June 1999 and 24 September 2011. The QC charged his clients VAT, gaining an additional private income of £624,579. A jury at Blackfriars Crown Court concluded this week that Pershad acted dishonestly. He now faces a custodial sentence, and is due to be sentenced later this month.
