Serious Fraud Office (SFO) director David Green’s replacement has been chosen and will be announced in ‘due course’ before taking up the new role later this year. Mark Thompson, the SFO’s Chief Operating Officer and former head of Proceeds of Crime Division will serve as interim director from 21 April. Green is due to leave the SFO on 20 April following six years at its helm. His achievements include six convictions for rate rigging offences, the first SFO conviction after trial of a corporate entity for offences involving bribery of foreign officials and obtaining a number of high profile Deferred Prosecution Agreements.
