Six vacancies for Supreme Court Justices are due to arise before the end of 2018. Lord Toulson reaches his statutory retirement age in September. Lords Neuberger, Clarke, Mance, Hughes and Sumption will all retire in 2018. The Judicial Appointments Commission has said it will not replace Lord Toulson immediately but will group the upcoming vacancies in joint selection exercises over the next two years. Lord Toulson will join the supplementary panel and sit on an ad hoc basis from October. Lord Dyson will also join the supplementary panel when he retires as Master of the Rolls.
