DNA testing is now being used to identify cousins as well as other complex relationships such as grandparent, uncle or aunt and sibling, AlphaBioLabs reports

Casey Randall, head of DNA and Covid testing at AlphaBioLabs, said: ‘These tests are especially useful where an alleged father is unavailable or unwilling to participate in paternity testing, or where the alleged father has passed away, and are often helpful in inheritance dispute cases.’

AlphaBioLabs, which operates a next-day turnaround time as standard, is offering 25% off all legal DNA testing until 31 October 2023.

Cousin testing—the latest in AlphaBioLabs’ range of court-approved tests—tests for 45 markers as standard. For comparison, legal paternity tests have a 25-marker standard, which gives a 99.9% chance of a conclusive result, although this can be upped to 45 markers if necessary, for example, where there is a chance the alleged parent could be related to the child in another way.

A court-approved non-invasive, 100% risk-free pre-natal paternity test is also now available from AlphaBioLabs, a UKAS-accredited laboratory.

To take advantage of the special 25% discount available until 31 October 2023, simply use the code DNA25 when requesting a quotation and the discount will be applied to the testing fee.
