Regulatory burdens should be lifted, and the government should continue to strive to open legal markets overseas, the Professional Services Global Competitiveness Group has said this week in its first report to Chancellor Alistair Darling. It called on the Solicitors Regulation Authority to lift restrictions on lawyers from India, China and some other jurisdictions requalifying in England and Wales to ensure there is enough talent to fill UK legal jobs.
