New guidance on how to set up a pro bono programme has been launched, as lawyers across the country take part in National Pro Bono Week.
The guide, Developing a pro bono programme, published by the Law Society, explains how solicitors can create a sustainable pro bono strategy and incorporate it into their professional activities. It offers advice on how to accurately record pro bono work, match expertise to community needs, decide what type of pro bono work to pursue, and manage risk, insurance and costs.
Law Society President, Jonathan Smithers says: “Pro bono is woven through the working life and identity of so many solicitors. I am immensely proud to belong to a profession that contributes its expertise voluntarily for the public good on such a wide scale.”
