Karl Turner has been appointed shadow attorney-general, replacing Catherine McKinnell, who resigned this week citing family reasons, a desire to speak out beyond her shadow cabinet brief, and concerns about the “increasingly negative path” being followed by the Labour Party. Turner, MP for Hull East and a barrister, is the former shadow solicitor general. Former Thompsons’ employment solicitor Jo Stevens was made a shadow justice minister in the recent reshuffle.
