Magna Carta at the Supreme Court

A rare opportunity to see one of the original copies of Magna Carta has arisen at the Supreme Court. Westminster Abbey has agreed to loan its engrossment of the version of the charter sealed by Edward I in 1300 to the Supreme Court, its neighbour on Parliament Square, as part of the court’s special exhibition to mark 800 years of the Great Charter’s legal legacy. The court’s summer exhibition, open on weekdays 3 August to 25 September, highlights the principal legal rights protected by the charter and explores its significance over the centuries.
