The Law Society of England & Wales has reported that the National Council of French Bars (CNB) and the French government have concluded that the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement enables UK qualified lawyers to register as foreign legal consultants (FLCs) for temporary and permanent practice.

Lexis®Library update: To register as FLCs, lawyers must request authorisation with the CNB. Those applying for permanent practice must also register with a local French bar association. Applications for temporary practice must be renewed each year. Law Society president I Stephanie Boyce, welcomed the ‘great news’ for Law Society members based in France.
