The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has published guidance for professionals about the changes to whiplash claims from 31 May 2021.

Lexis®Library update: In addition to the guidance, a FAQ document has been published which includes key questions that have been raised at stakeholder events. This document will be updated on a monthly basis until 31 July 2021.

The reforms to the process for low value road traffic accident (RTA) claims, also referred to as whiplash reforms, will apply from 31 May 2021. This means that claimants will be able to settle small value personal injury claims arising from an RTA without needing to go to court or for legal representation.

Claimants will be able to make claims using the Official Injury Claim Service, from 31 May 2021. For claimants who do not have access to, or are unable to use the online service, assistance will be available through the Portal Support Centre by contacting 0800 118 1631.

The guidance can be viewed here.
