Lexis®Library update: Some of the responses include that the government chooses to proceed with the bill, noting that the Bill of Rights will allow the government to remain a State Party to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), that clause 5 of the Bill will give operational experts more confidence in exercising their judgement when deciding how best to serve the public, therefore the government disagrees with the recommendation to remove it, and that short title ‘Bill of Rights’ will continue to be used as the government feels this is a suitable title for the aim of the legislation.
