LNB NEWS: MoJ announces international meeting on war crimes in Ukraine

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced that London will host an international meeting of justice ministers from around the world in March 2023, to discuss how best to support the International Criminal Court (ICC) as it investigates alleged war crimes in Ukraine.

Lexis®Library update: The meeting will be hosted by Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab, as well as the Minister of Justice and Security of the Netherlands, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, and will involve a speech from Prosecutor of the ICC, Karim Khan KC, on the court’s work and the role of the international community in supporting its investigations.

According to the MoJ, the meeting aims to ensure that the ICC is given increased the global financial and practical support, coordinate efforts to ensure the ICC has all it needs to carry out investigations and prosecute those responsible, allow countries to determine how to provide further help to the Court, and discuss how to help victims and witnesses provide testimonies without causing them further distress.
