The Family Justice Council (FJC) has published information about the Experts Sub-Committee which held its inaugural event hosted by Mr Justice Williams on 25 March 2021.

Lexis®Library update: The event was aimed at medical and allied health professions, family lawyers and judiciary. The event also outlined recommendations from the final report of the President’s Working Group on Medical Experts to concentrate on encouraging medical and allied health experts to offer services to the family justice system.

Recommendations include how the Family Courts deal with matters, for example, the material provided to experts, the necessity for attendance at or participation in hearings and scheduling of expert evidence within a Witness Template. The FJC said that the event considered the role of the expert witness and what to expect when providing evidence.
