Lexis®Library update: The latest consultation to be issued is seeking views on CPR 22, CPR PD 22 (statements of truth) and CPR 23, CPR PD 23A and CPR PD 23B (general rules about applications for court orders). Comments are to be submitted by 24 February 2023.
In 2021, the CPRC commenced a project to try to simplify the CPR, this being its statutory duty to do so under section 2(7) of the Civil Procedure Act 1997. The work is being conducted in a phased way over a period of months/years, with the CPRC commencing rolling programmes of consultation for specific rules, whereby drafting proposals are published for comment before changes are introduced. The proposed changes will focus on drafting amendments and not substantive changes.
The next set of proposed reforms published for consultation concern CPR 22, CPR PD 22 (statements of truth), CPR 23, CPR PD 23A and CPR PD 23B (general rules about applications for court orders).
Comments on the consultation on CPR 22, CPR PD 22 (statements of truth), CPR 23, CPR PD 23A and CPR PD 23B (general rules about applications for court orders) should be submitted to CPRCRollingConsultations@justice.gov.uk by 24 February 2022.
