The Legal Ombudsman will begin accepting complaints about claims management companies in January but has warned that a “relative lack of information about the nature of demand” may be a “specific risk”, in its draft strategy and budget consultation for 2015/2017. Its current forecast for the work is an extra 3,000 cases. The Ombudsman will also begin regulating accountants registered for probate work in January. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales was given new powers to regulate alternative business structures this year.
