The Law Society has expressed concerns over plans to establish a small business commissioner to help small businesses settle contractual or supply chain disputes with larger companies quickly and cheaply. While welcoming the proposals, the Law Society warned that businesses should retain the right to receive independent legal advice throughout any mediation, that appeals processes should be available if sanctions are proposed and that it may not always be possible to maintain anonymity of parties during the process.
