Washing and changing rooms, food and fasting at work, and workplace chat about religion are among the topics covered in Acas’ latest publication to tackle discrimination, Guidance on Religion and Belief. Acas (the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) explains the law and offers practical advice in its leaflet, Religion or belief discrimination: key points for the workplace, which can be downloaded from its website, www.acas.org.uk. It covers indirect and direct discrimination, unacceptable language, dress code and appearance, philosophical belief, harassment and victimisation, avoiding stereotyping, bereavement and a host of other important issues.
