A separate inquiry in the Grenfell Tower disaster has been launched by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), looking into whether the State fulfilled its human rights and equality duties. Due to conclude in April 2018, it will focus on the State’s duty to investigate, the duty to provide adequate housing, and access to justice as well as other human rights involved. Sir Martin Moore-Bick, who is leading the official inquiry, opted not to include social housing policy from his inquiry as he felt it would take too much time and raise social, economic and political questions unsuitable for a judge-led inquiry.
