There is an urgent need to scrap employment tribunal fees and reform how employment status is defined, the Law Society has said in its submission to the Independent Review of Employment Practices in the Modern Economy, Matthew Taylor’s independent review into the gig economy. The Society said tribunal fees should not be considered until the courts and tribunal modernisation programme is complete. It also expressed support for clearer definitions of different employment statuses.
