The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has issued a call for evidence on whether it should create a specialist Housing Court to provide a single path of redress for landlord and tenant disputes. Currently, housing disputes are heard mainly in the first-tier tribunal or the county court but also in the magistrates’ court and High Court, which can be ‘daunting and confusing’ for landlords, tenants and leaseholders, the ministry said. The call for evidence closes on 22 January.
