Non-lawyer Nick Ephgrave, a former assistant commissioner of the Met Police (2019-2022) and chief constable for Surrey police (2015-2019), has been appointed as the Director of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), replacing Lisa Osofsky

Louise Hodges, partner, Kingsley Napley, said: ‘The incoming Director will have his work cut out as he leads the SFO in helping to tackle the country’s significant fraud problem.’

Shula de Jersey, partner at BCL Solicitors, said Ephgrave would ‘first have to grapple with continuing to improve the SFO’s culture’ and had ‘a huge challenge ahead of him. No doubt his significant experience of being in senior leadership roles will assist.’
