Women did well in the recent round of employment judge selections, the Judicial Appointments Commission has said
Only 37% of the eligible pool was female, yet women accounted for 42% of applications and 45% of selections. BME candidates, who make up eight per cent of the eligible pool, applied in larger than expected numbers and made up six per cent of the selections. More than half of the successful candidates were solicitors, and seven per cent of applicants declared a disability. The selections took place between October 2010 and March 2011.
