Sir Peter Coulson, who practised at the Technology and Construction Bar before becoming a judge, has been selected as successor to Sir Michael Briggs as Deputy Head of Civil Justice. Sir Michael was sworn in as a Justice of the Supreme Court this week. Sir Peter’s appointment is for a three-year term and will start from 8 March 2018. The Deputy Head plays a leading role on the Civil Procedure Rule Committee, and assists the Master of the Rolls generally.
