NEWS IN BRIEF

The work of barristers is the subject of a new guide, “The Modern Bar”, aimed at de-mystifying the profession, and published by the Bar Council last week as part of a series. The guide explains the history, regulatory structure and complaints handling functions of the Bar Council, the profession’s pro bono work, and the international work of the Bar Council as an advocate for the rule of law. The Bar Council’s Mark Hatcher says the guide will “inform students, companies, local communities and the general public”.
