COVID-19: More potential courts for jury trials

Bristol, Manchester Minshull Street, Reading, Warwick, and Winchester Crown Courts are being considered for jury trials, the jury trial working group has confirmed

The group, which is chaired by Mr Justice Edis and reports to the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett, is looking for safe ways to hold jury trials during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Old Bailey and Cardiff Crown Court have already been assessed as safe, and new jury trials are scheduled to begin next week.

At its meeting this week, the group reported that Derby and Nottingham Crown Courts have been assessed but are not suitable for jury trials at this stage.
