More than nine out of 10 family law solicitors will lose money under proposals for fixed fees in family legal aid work.

A Law Society survey asked solicitors to calculate their fees under the proposed Legal Services Commission regime. It found 94% would receive lower fees.

Richard Miller, Law Society legal aid manager, says the society will “continue to oppose strongly” proposals that did not benefit solicitors: “The LSC has said solicitors will be better off under the new proposals. Our survey would suggest otherwise.”
